You don't have to use the waxed book thread though they do hold things nice and tight. Other threads can work for learning the process at first.

Please note that some website links will change over time or discontinue items...happens all the time at least you see what is used in this course so you can google it and see what you can come up to comparable to what has been used.

Golden Brand is a good product I use it in my collage work too along with the glazing mediums

I like to use a good utility knife when cutting the book board to size and for the bookbinding cradle. I've used the back pad of a large watercolor paper pad before for both the covers and the cradle. So see what you have around the house too.

As you can see I'm preparing for a Coptic Stitch Party or something, Right? No just preparing this for whenever. Notice they have the whole drilled and I've coated the cover substrate and put wax paper between so they don't stick together.

Straight or curved needles...curved works best, Tacky glue for the book binding cradle and the more expensive paper is the parchment, you can use regular copy paper too.

These little hand drills are handy for the studio to have around, it's only cardboard we are drilling through and you can use an awl if you don't have a drill.
